With 10 days left before Christmas, the last minute rush to ship packages out of town is on.

And, according to the U.S. Post Office, Monday will be the busiest shipping day of the year.

The Post Office is expecting to process 33 million more letters and packages today than this time last year. The shipping will include cards, letters and packages to millions of addresses across the country.

Saturday is the deadline to send greeting cards and packages to ensure delivery in time for Christmas. For really last minute shoppers, December 23 is the deadline as long as Priority Mail Express is used.

Post Office patrons can expect some lines and wait times today.

Meanwhile, United Parcel Service (UPS) officials say their busiest delivery day will be Dec. 22.

UPS said more than 34 million packages will be dropped off next Monday. That total is about twice the amount for a normal shipping day.
