The Polk County Sheriff's Office is looking for a teen who went missing after a car accident earlier this month
Jonathan Christopher, 17, was last seen at 7 p.m. on Dec. 8 after he hit a fence with his car. The accident happened in the 7000 block of Crystal Beach Road in Eagle Lake.
His mother, Joan Christopher, said he may have gotten scared about being involved in an accident and run off. She said the family is also worried something else may have happened to him.
Christopher said her son has had some problems but she said it's heartbreaking not knowing where he is or if he's ok.
"He's smart, he's kind, he's an amazing kid and I want him to come home and be safe," she said. "We're very concerned. I love him."
Christopher said the family has lived in Polk County for years and her son has a lot of friends in the area.
The family is putting up flyers at local businesses asking for the public's help in trying to find him.
The sheriff's office said he's 5-foot-7, 125 pounds and has blonde hair and hazel eyes. He was last known to be wearing black sweat pants, a red hoodie and gray Nike tennis shoes.
Christopher said the family is offering a reward of up to $5,000 in the case.
