Tampa police are asking for the public's help in finding a baby they believe to be in danger.

Police said 10-month-old Jaidyel Valdez is supposed to be in custody with the state's Department of Children and Families, however his mother Char-Ann Santana, of Tampa, refused to follow a court order and turn the baby over.

Santana has a history of drug abuse and a warrant has been issued for her arrest in Hillsborough County.

Police say she may not know DCF wants to take custody of Valdez because deputies were unsuccessful in executing a warrant on Sunday and have not been able to locate her since.

A $1,000 reward is being offered in the case.

Anyone who has information about either of their whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers immediately.
