A Citrus County woman, who has been giving kids in need a merry Christmas for over 30 years, is not slowing down anytime soon.

It's not uncommon for Ginger West to put in 16-hour days this time of year. West is a seasoned veteran when it comes to wrapping gifts for children in need.

"You don't even think about it," West said. "A lot of times it's eight o'clock at night and we go, 'oh, is it dark?'"

West, the director of the Citrus County Family Resource Center in Hernando, and her volunteer army will help close to 2,000 kids again this year.

"We know that all these little kids are going to have something under the tree on Christmas morning, and that's what we do it for," she said.

A few years ago, West was doing the exact same thing.

"Lots of kids," she said. "I love Christmas."

Carol Peterman has been helping out for 11 years.

"She does a wonderful job," Peterman said. "All she does is help people."

It's hard to keep count of all the toys that have been wrapped and all the kids that have been helped over the decades. West said her plan is to keep going for another 13 years and then her granddaughter is going to take over.
