Generally good travel conditions for the start of the weekend. Rain and mountain snow will fall with gusty winds in the Pacific Northwest. Some rain will fall along the Gulf Coast region.

Sunday should be fine over most of the country. Highs will be in the upper 30s in Boston, New York, and Chicago. Rain will continue along the Gulf coast and the Pacific Northwest will be wet and windy.

The early stages of the storm will form on Tuesday and bring fog which could cause delays at some of the major airports.

Monday could be very rainy here in Florida and along the Middle-Atlantic region. Rain could be heavy at times. Some freezing rain could develop in the upper Midwest as the next storm forms.

A upper level low will drop out of Canada and bring strong winds, heavy snow, torrential rain, and fog in the Northeast and Midwest on Christmas Eve. Expect travel delays, both on the roads and at airports.

Rain could be heavy in the I-95 mid-Atlantic and southern New England corridor on Wednesday into Wednesday night. Winds may lead to flight delays in the mid-Atlantic, New England and eastern Great Lakes region Tuesday night and Wednesday.

The highest winds will be in New England Wednesday into Wednesday night, when gusts could reach 60 mph. Gusts could approach 50 mph around New York City Wednesday into Wednesday evening.

Problems due to snow and wind will continue in the Upper Midwest and Appalachians into Christmas Day along with gusty winds. Highs will be in the 30s in Chicago, mid 40s in New York City, 20s in the Northern Plains. No bitterly cold air is forecast.

The heaviest snow should fall in Michigan but a significant Lake-Effect Snow Event will spread over the region on Christmas Day and continue into Friday.
