A Lake Wales man who was hit by a pickup truck while pushing a bicycle along Masterpiece Road on Tuesday has died, authorities said.
Johnny Leroy Emmons, 43, died at Lakeland Regional Medical Center on Friday, Lake Wales police said.
Police said Emmons was wearing dark clothing and had no reflectors or lights on the bike he was was pushing along the on the shoulder of the roadway near Mammoth Grove Road. He was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Silvarado driven by Harold Massey, 66, of Lake Wales.
Emmons was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.
The case remains open, but charges are not expected, police said.
