One man is dead and another is recovering after a morning shooting Saturday in east Bradenton.

Just before 6 a.m., Manatee County sheriff's deputies responded to the 3600 block of 9th Street E. They found 25-year-old Samuel Conde lying in a driveway.

Conde was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Neighbors said the area is a hot spot for crime activity and they want it to stop before others are killed. Deputies said they learned Conde had gotten into a confrontation with one or more people.

“It’s a nuisance to the neighborhood," said resident Woody Punch. "Four or five times in the last 10 days there has been gun shots from over there -- and now there’s been a murder over there.”

Neighbors said the scene was so violent they could hear the gun shots and screams.

“It was nice, quiet," said Punch. "I was sleeping real good, all of a sudden [I hear], bam bam bam NO DON’T! Bam bam bam bam.”

Detectives also confirmed a second victim, David McCary, 29, was taken to the hospital and treated and released for a gunshot wound.

“A lot of people say aye! aye! Help! Help!,” said neighbor Ricardo Diaz.

Both Diaz and Punch say there is a makeshift bar, back in the neighborhood that attracts large crowds, heavy drinking and gang activity especially on the weekends.

“A lot of people drink over there every weekend,” said Diaz.

Diaz says he is scared for his young children’s safety.

“I don’t like this," Diaz said. "I think I have to move the house because this is a problem.”

So far no arrests have been made in this case. However, Punch and Diaz are hoping it's enough to spark a positive change in a neighborhood that needs it the most.
