The Polk County Sheriff is wishing everyone a happy holiday and he’s doing it with a personalized card that has heads turning.

On the outside of the card, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd is offering free portraits. On the inside, he’s taking a picture with an inmate and a K-9 in the picture.

The sheriff says he sends the card out every year to his friends and family and then shares it on Facebook.

There were a few negative comments but the people Bay News 9 talked to had nothing but good things to say about the card.

“This is such a serious business that you just need to understand that there’s a reason for the season,” said Sheriff Judd. “Every year I try to do a Christmas card that brings levity and smiles."

And boy did this card get a few laughs when we showed it to people in Polk County.

“Holiday portraits by Grady Judd," said resident, Amanda Tripp. "Oh my God that’s great!”

“I can’t get over his face," resident, Vivian Sanchez. "The look on his face. Wow. It’s different I’ve never seen something like this before ever."

In true fashion, the sheriff reacted to the negative comments.

“Get a life," Judd said. "If I stood on the street corner and handed out hundred dollar bills somebody wouldn’t like it.”

Last year’s card shows the sheriff reading stories to inmates. The sheriff said he sends these out every year to his friends and family.

“Maybe they criticized it because they weren’t on the Christmas card list,” Judd said.

Judd says this holiday season his message is pretty clear:  Enjoy your holiday and don’t end up on his naughty list.

The sheriff said the holiday cards are not paid for with taxpayer money. He uses private funds.
