A Tampa motorcyclist died Monday evening in Brandon after he struck a vehicle that pulled out in front of him, police said.

Around 5 p.m, Kenneth Epps, 48, of Tampa was riding a 2002 Suzuki GSXR east on Bloomingdale Avenue in the left lane. A Ford Escape was turning left from Christy Lane onto westbound Bloomingdale.

Epps braked when he saw the Escape cross into his path, but the motorcycle skidded and crashed into the front of the crossover vehicle, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Epps was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

The driver of the Escape, Jorge Arturo Granados, 31, of Palmetto was not injured. He had two passengers who also were not hurt.

Alcohol was not suspected and no charges have been filed. Investigators are trying to determine whether Epps was speeding, a spokesperson for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
