Police have arrested a man they say forced a woman from her bike and robbed her on the south end of the Pinellas Trail on Sunday.

The woman was riding a Motobecane mountain bike on the rail near 24th Street and 6th Avenue S. around 12:30 p.m. when she was approached by 55-year-old Timothy Foster Young, police said.

According to an arrest report, Young walked up from the north, stood in front of the woman and demanded her phone. He then grabbed the bike by the handle bars and tilted it back, causing the woman to fall off.

Young pushed the woman to separate her from the bike, which had a yellow bag on the back containing a Samsung cellphone and $10. He implied he was carrying a gun in plastic bag and threatened to shoot the woman before grabbing the bike and riding away, police said.

Officers found Young at 2900 Emerson Ave. S, and the woman was able to identify him as the man who robbed her, the arrest report said. He was taken to the Pinellas County Jail and charged with robbery with a deadly weapon or firearm.

Police said they don't believe Young had anything to do with two armed robberies that happened in two St. Petersburg sections of the trail last week.
