Two cases in Polk County might be affected by the recent scandal surrounding a Florida Department of Law Enforcement drug analyst.

According to our partners at the Ledger, prosecutors have identified two closed cases the former analyst may have been involved in.

Attorneys in those cases have been notified, but it's not clear what the impact will be on the outcome of those cases.  The FDLE said the cases were not expected to be affected by the mishandling.

The former analyst, Joseph Graves, was arrested Feb. 4 on charges of stealing and selling painkillers and other drugs he was supposed to be testing as evidence in criminal cases.

Graves, who had worked with the department since December 2005, handed about 2,600 cases, most of which were drug-related, the FDLE said.
