A scooter rider turned into the path of a minivan and was struck and killed Saturday night in Sarasota, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The rider, a male who hasn't been identified, was traveling west on Clark Road (State Road 72) around 8:40 p.m. At the intersection with Honore Avenue, he turned left on a red light into the path of the a Dodge Caravan, troopers said.
The rider was ejected from the scooter and pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither the driver of the mini-van, 41-year-old Michelle Kolch of Thonotosassa, nor any of her three passengers were injured, the FHP said.
