Detectives continue to investigate a shooting Monday morning at a Holiday chiropractic clinic that critically injured a man.
Jamie Velez, 34, entered the West Coast Spine and Injury Center at 1817 U.S. 19 just before 11 a.m. and was shot during "some type of altercation" with Dr. Lenny Linardos, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.
Multiple shots were fired and Velez was probably hit several times, the sheriff's office said. Deputies were dispatched to the location after a 911 call came in from a business across the street.
Velez was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Detectives are trying to determine what happened and whether the men knew each other. The only other person in the building at the time of the shooting was a nurse, the sheriff's office said.
