A 57-year-old man was killed early Friday after being hit and subsequently run over by several vehicles in Brandon.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened at Bloomingdale Avenue and Maze Lane, which is just east of Bryan Road.

Deputies said Ronald Sandalic was trying to cross Bloomingdale Ave. at 4:30 a.m. when he was hit by a car. Officials said the driver that hit Sandalic called 911.

Almost immediately following the initial impact, Sandalic was struck again while lying in the roadway by a 2005 Toyota Tacoma. Deputies said the driver stopped and unsuccessfully tried to wave cars around Sandalic.

Sandalic was then struck a third time by a 2005 Crown Victoria. The driver also stopped and waited for deputies.

Two additional vehicles ran over Sandalic's body and did not stop. Witnesses described one vehicle as a Chevy S-10 pickup truck and the other as a full size pickup truck.

Given the condition of Sandalic's body at the time the last two vehicles struck him, deputies said these drivers would not be facing a criminal charges, however they should contact the Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Section for documentation in the crash report.

The drivers of the last two vehicles that struck Sandalic and did not stop can contact HCSO Traffic Homicide detectives at 813-247-8200.
