The St. Petersburg Police Department has released the identities of the two suspects in Thursday's carjacking of a 91-year-old woman.

According to police, Travonte Brishard Banks, 19 and Savon Jamar Hunter, 20, were taken into custody Thursday afternoon after a brief chase that started at 23rd Avenue North and 7th Street North where the suspects carjacked the woman.

Police said the men rammed with the woman’s Toyota Venza with a stolen Dodge Ram pick-up, pulled her out of her car, and then threw her to the ground.

One of the suspects drove off in her car while the other sped away in the pick-up, police said. Neighbors said it was chaos in the quiet Crescent Park neighborhood when the carjacking took place.

St. Petersburg police sealed off the neighborhood and a Pinellas County Sheriff’s helicopter spotted the pair. They were quickly apprehended.

Police said Banks is believed to be the driver of the carjacked vehicle and has been charged with carjacking, aggravated fleeing and eluding, four counts of leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest without violence and threatening a public official.

The last charge involves verbal threats he made to investigating officers. Banks is believed to have participated in the actual carjacking of the 91-year-old woman's Toyota Venza van.

Hunter has been charged with two counts of violation of probation for robbery and resisting arrest without violence. Hunter's involvement in the carjacking is still under investigation, but he has not been charged in relation to that incident at this time.

The 91-year-old woman was released from the hospital Thursday with only minor cuts and contusions.

Police say the truck that was initially used to strike the carjacking victim's vehicle was a 2002 silver Dodge Ram 1500 with a FL tag of C887BI.

The truck was reported stolen yesterday in the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office jurisdiction. It has not yet been recovered.
