A homeless man is facing murder charges after Hillsborough County deputies said he stabbed another homeless man during an argument early Tuesday.

Edwin J. Brown, 41, was arrested on charges of second-degree murder.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, a man called 911 shortly before 3 a.m. to report that he had seen Brown knock out Daniel Hudson, 35.

The witness said he had been drinking beer with Hudson and another man behind the University Citgo gas station on Fletcher Avenue when Brown became angry at the men, saying they were making too much noise and that he was trying to sleep.

Brown and Hudson began arguing, and Brown physically attacked Hudson, deputies said. During the altercation, Hudson fell, unresponsive, to the ground.

Brown ran from the scene while the witness called 911.

Fire rescue crews responded to the scene and took Hudson to the hospital, where he died a short time later. The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office determined Hudson died from a knife wound to the chest, and ruled his death a homicide.

Brown was arrested early Tuesday afternoon after deputies saw him walking along North 22nd Street and 131st Avenue in Tampa. He was booked into the Orient Road Jail, where he remains without bond.
