A Bartow woman has been arrested in a massive mail theft case in Pasco County.

Shelly Johnson, 30, is facing charges of forgery. She's accused of cashing stolen checks she received from a friend in October.

Detectives said the friend, 30-year-old Brian Chipman, is accused of stealing mail from more than 900 people in the Bay area.

The Indiana man was arrested last month after deputies said they discovered check books, bank statements and credit cards belonging to other people in a car Chipman had rented.

Chipman is facing charges of scheming to defraud and fraudulent use of personal information.
