A search for a small plane and pilot that went missing a week ago between Dunnellon and Zephyrhills has been suspended indefinitely.

Around 8 a.m., nearly 50 searchers left a command post at Little Rock Cannery and headed into thick woods to look for Theodore Weiss and his experimental-type aircraft. Since then, officials announced the ground search effort will come to a halt unless they recieve any new tips.

Air searches will continue, however.

The searchers concentrated on heavily wooded areas in northern Hernando County on Saturday.

Today's crew included volunteers and members of the Hernando, Citrus, Sumter and Marion sheriff's offices, Florida Fish and Wildlife, State Emergency Management, Swiftmud and Sarasota K-9 Search and Rescue.

Officials with the varoius agencies said they feel that they have "exhausted our efforts and diligently searched our ground search area."
