A student at East Lake High School suffered a head injury Monday afternoon while taking down the set from a weekend performance of Peter Pan.

According to East Lake Fire Rescue, the 17-year-old student, along with about two dozen others, was taking apart a set from the school play performed over the weekend.

Somehow, they said, the student became entangled in a rope which pulled him 100 feet into the air up to the catwalk. Going up, he suffered a head injury. Crews reached the boy a short time later.

"Apparently the crews that were up there had assessed him and explained the situation to him well enough that he felt very comfortable coming down,” said Division Chief David Toney, East Lake Fire Rescue.

The student was treated at the school and transported to St. Joseph's Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
