A Lakeland man accused of setting his wife on fire took a plea deal Tuesday that spares him the death penalty.

Investigators said Joshua Kimbrough, 34, set his wife, Megan, on fire in August 2012. Megan Kimbrough sustained burns over 80 percent of her body. She died three months later.

Prosecutors were seeking the death penalty, but on Tuesday a judge sentenced him to life in prison.
