The Tampa man accused of firing the gunshot that wounded a 4-year-old boy Monday had his bond set at $500,000.

Authorities said Bakari Deonte Parks, 23, turned himself in at the Orient Road Jail Monday night. Parks has been charged with two counts of attempted first-degree felony murder with a firearm.

He remains in jail on the bond, set at $250,000 per charge.

According to Tampa police, two suspects were fighting with each other in the area of Chestnut Street and N. Oregon Avenue at 11 a.m. Monday.

At some point, shots were fired, and one of the bullets hit Renaldo Moore, who was with his mother about 250 yards away at W. Spruce Street and Oregon Avenue.

Moore was treated and released at Tampa General Hospital.

Residents in the North Boulevard Homes say fights and gunfire are not uncommon in the neighborhood.

"It happens up and down these streets," said resident Shirley Harilal. "Chestnut and Oregon. Shooting at people, that's normal. Sometimes I sit in the house and hear it and be like, 'oh, they're at it again."

Police have not released information about what the initial fight was about or if the men fighting have been a part of the ongoing issues in the neighborhood.

Authorities have not released any information about what Parks told them - or if he has spoken to detectives at all.

In the meantime, both Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Police Chief Jane Castor are asking for the community's help to clean up the streets.

"There is a level of responsibility (and) you can't allow this to happen in your neighborhood," Castor said. "The good people in this neighborhood far outweigh the any of the bad guys, the knuckleheads that are walking around here, and they need to give us information to get the bad guys off the street."
