Hernando County deputies are looking for a driver that smashed into a home and then left the scene.

According to deputies, a man lost control of his car and ramed into the home in the 800 block of Darby Lane in Brooksville early Friday. The suspect's damaged car was recovered a few blocks away.

A half covered home that sits on Darby Lane in Brooksville, was once Patricia Miller’s castle.

"It was a beautiful little apartment, it was absolutely perfect," Patricia Miller.

The crash left a hole in the side of the home.

"The force that he hit the kitchen with, if I was in the house I would have been severely injured" said Miller.

Fortunately, Patricia and her dog weren’t home. But, police say the driver didn’t stick around to find out. They spent the day tracking down leads and may have caught a break.

Even if police find the driver, Patricia still won’t have a home.

"No place to live, I have nothing, everything is gone," she said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the police at (352) 540-3810.
