The debate may soon be over for the bill that would allow undocumented students in Florida to pay in-state tuition to attend Florida colleges.

The bill passed the Florida House of Representatives, and it has been on track to pass the state Senate, but this may be the end of the line for the Florida DREAM Act.

The last remaining hurdle had been the Senate Appropriations Committee, but now the committee's chairman, Joe Negron, said he won't be taking up the bill at the committee's final hearing on Tuesday.

Negron said his reasoning behind the decision is that the bill would be too expensive.

However, supporters of the bill say that's a red herring, and they say they think they have the votes to get the bill passed on the Senate floor.

The only person blocking it from getting there is Negron, a man who is bound to face mounting political pressure over the next four days.
