The Southwest Florida Water Management District is asking for the public's help in updating Pasco County's floodplain maps.

The agency is trying to get more information about flooding on the Pithlachascotee River and Bear Creek watershed areas, which covers most of northern and western Pasco County.

They want feedback from residents that can then be used by local governments to help with emergency planning by identifying flood-prone areas.

Those public meetings are set for 4 p.m. on April 29 and May 1 at River Ridge High School, located at 11646 Town Center Road in New Port Richey.
