Time is running out for gun enthusiasts who want to take part in the Pasco County Sheriff's Shotgun Shootout next weekend.

The shootout will be held April 26 at the Tampa Bay Sporting Clays gun range, which is located at 10514 Ehren Cutoff in Land O' Lakes. Check-in starts at 8 a.m., with the event beginning about an hour later. Participants will get breakfast and lunch.

The event raises money for the Pasco Police Athletic League and other children's programs.

Shotguns are available for rent. Hearing and vision protection is required, and some will be available for participants to borrow. Only 12-, 20- and 28-guage shotguns in safe working order will be allowed.

There are different levels of sponsorship and registration available for the Shootout, which include different benefits:

  • $2,000 - Sheriff's Club - One 4-shooter team; ammo; cart; "special" sponsor's prize drawing; recognition at luncheon.
  • $1,000 - Platinum -- One 4-shooter team; ammo; cart; sponsor's prize drawing; recognition at luncheon.
  • $600 - Team with cart -- One 4-shooter team; ammo; cart.
  • $150 - Individual - Individual entry; ammo.

From there, click on the Shotgun Shootout link and from that page, you can complete online registration and payment or you can print a registration form to mail in your payment.
