Art lovers and even those just looking for something cool to do have another opportunity to attend the Mainsail Art Festival today in downtown St. Petersburg.

The 39th annual two-day festival combines visual, culinary and performing arts, along with a Young at Art student show and opportunities for children to engage in art activities.

Add to that the more than 250 exhibiting artists from all over the United States. They specialize in mediums ranging from ceramics and fabrics to photography, sculpture, water color and wood. More than $50,000 in prize money is up for grabs.

Mainsail runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Vinoy Park, 701 Bayshore Dr. NE.

A free shuttle is running every 10-15 minutes from First Street just north of Central Avenue, behind the Ponce De Leon Hotel, the Beach Drive Trolley Station on the approach to the Pier and the north side of Seventh Avenue NE just west of Bayshore Drive.

Admission is free.
