The Libertarian candidate who garnered almost five percent of the vote during March's special election won't run this fall.

Lucas Overby, who ran against Republican David Jolly and Democrat Alex Sink in the special election in Pinellas County for District 13 will not run for the seat in the November, according to partner newspaper the Tampa Bay Times.

Jolly won the election with 48.4 percent of the vote, topping Sink's 46.5 percent. Overby, however, said he will run for elected office again at some point in the future.

"This is far from my last fight and this is not the last time my name will appear on a ballot," Overby said in a released statement.

The special election was for the seat of longtime Republican U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, who died last October.

The general election takes place Nov. 4.
