Police said a former Polk County teacher has now been accused of having a sexual relationship with a third student.

Jennifer Fichter, 29, is already facing several counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor after two students told investigators they had sexual relationships with her.

“She could be facing life eventually with all these charges once they add up and go to court,” said Lakeland Police PIO, Gary Gross.

Investigators said Fichter was teaching at Lakeland's Central Florida Aerospace Academy when she allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old student.

The former English teacher was in court on Thursday afternoon, but her lawyer never showed up. So the judge moved the hearing to tomorrow.

“She's meeting with them after hours, and she's texting them and Facebooking them at two in the morning," Gross said. "That is certainly outside the scope of her duty."

On Wednesday, a second student told investigators that he had a sexual relationship with Fichter during the 2011-12 school year, when she was 26 and the student was 17.

Officials have not yet released details about the third accuser.

Investigators said they found one of the students by conducting interviews with students at the school. That student did not come forward. Investigators had to go to him.

It’s something that doesn’t come as a surprise for Abby Roche.

She said she complained to authorities two years ago after discovering Fichter sent messages to her son. But the investigation didn’t find anything inappropriate.

“Looking back and knowing if it had gotten taken care of at that moment it would have saved the kids, the parents, the drama and the tragedy of it all,” Roche said.

Roche said Ficther never had a sexual relationship with her son, but she believes he knew about her relationships with other students. In fact, she said it was no secret at the school, which is how investigators say they tracked down the latest alleged victims who didn’t come forward on their own.

“She wanted to be called by her first name," Gross said. "She wanted to be one of these students. If you follow the reports and the affidavits, she's just hanging out and she's one of the friends."

Fichter was also accused of sending inappropriate text messages to an eighth grader when she taught in Orlando. No charges were ever filed there.

She also faces three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor in Hillsborough County. These counts stem from the relationship she allegedly had with the first student.

On Tuesday, the Polk County School Board voted unanimously to terminate Fichter's employment at the academy.
