Local internet issues halted FCAT testing in Pasco County schools for the second time this week.

In an email this morning, assessment director Peggy Jones said testing would stop for the rest of the day, due to connectivity issues.

The school district says the problem was corrected just before 1 p.m. and told schools they could resume FCAT testing if time permitted.

The Florida Department of Education gave the district permission for students to return to class even if they had seen some of the FCAT content. They were allowed to pick up where they left off after the issues were resolved.

Education department spokesman Joe Follick said the state's FCAT team did meet and found there were "no issues we've heard of" on a statewide level.

Earlier this week, problems were reported with testing on a statewide level.  Computer problems impacted 26 school districts across Florida. Education commissioner Pam Stewart blamed the testing provider, Pearson Education, for server troubles.
