Almost 18 months after starting, repair work is still taking place at the Willowbrook Townhome community.

And according to partner newspaper the Bradenton Herald, there is no immediate end in sight to the dump trucks and construction crews at the KB Home-built Bradenton townhouses.

Controversy has raged around the complex for years, after dozens of the units were deemed unsafe by county building inspectors. Many of the units had mold and sinking floors.

Repairs and construction have been underway at the complex since January 2013.

The units were plagued with water damage, mold, defective balconies, and other shoddy construction. KB Home, which developed the 272-unit community next to Lakewood Ranch, agreed to pay for repairs on the units after an outcry from residents.

Repairs have been completed in about 15 buildings. At least 25 other buildings are currently under repair.

No completion date has been determined.
