A bystander pulled a man from a burning garage Thursday afternoon in Shady Hills.

According to Pasco Fire Rescue, crews responded to the fire in the 16000 block of Dalberg Drive in Shady Hills.

Whey they arrived, they discovered that a 57-year-old man had seen the fire and ran into the burning garage to help the 56-year-old man who was inside.

"The 56-year-old male was brought to safety by the heroic actions of the bystander," officials said.

The man in the garage was taken by air to Tampa General Hospital with burns to his face and legs.  There is no word as to his current condition.

The bystander suffered minor smoke inhalation and refused treatment.

Officials also said one dog died in the fire. Another dog survived.

Investigators are now trying to determine what started the fire.
