Three children died after drowning in Bay area pools during Mother's Day weekend.

Two toddlers were pulled from their grandparents' back yard pool in the 7000 block of Morning Dove Circle around 6:15 p.m. Friday. They were airlifted to Tampa's St. Joseph's Hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.

Slias Lugo-Walsh, 18 months old, was pronounced dead late Saturday night. His 2-year-could cousin, Jayvien Watkins, was pronounced dead at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

Autopsies are planned for both children, the sheriff's office said.

Sheriff Grady Judd said a preliminary investigation indicated the boys were missing for about 10 to 15 minutes before family members inside the house realized they were gone.

The family members, including the parents of Silas and a grandparent, searched the house and found the boys floating in the pool.

"At this point in the investigation, it appears to be nothing more than a tragic, tragic accident," Judd said, noting that no charges are anticipated.

Judd said the first deputy on scene performed CPR on the boys.

"You know, this breaks all of our hearts," Judd. said. "If it's not bad enough that it's occurring, it's occurring on the weekend of Mother's Day where we celebrate with our children and our grandchildren. This is a nightmare of monumental proportions."

Judd said the back door of the home was closed but doesn't latch. The pool was about 5 feet deep, and the gate around the pool was open, according to deputies.

Young boy drowns in Riverview

A 5-year-old boy drowned in an apartment complex pool in Riverview, authorities said.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the boy was standing near the pool in the 9000 block of Azalea Bloom Way when his mother stepped away for a few minutes. Officials said there were other people around the boy, but she heard screams and ran back to the boy as he was being pulled out of the pool.

The boy was pronounced dead after he was transported to Brandon Regional Hospital.

Toddler in Brooksville pulled from pool, condition unknown

A 3-year-old girl in Brooksville is in critical condition after deputies said she was found at the bottom of a pool.

According to reports, deputies received a call regarding a possible drowning around 4 p.m. in the 7000 block of Gordon Loop in Brooksville.

Once officials arrived at the home, it was determined that a family was visiting the home was invited to use the swimming pool. 

The toddler was in the pool area with an adult then the adult decided to grab something from a nearby shed. 

After realizing the girl was not following, the adult immediately checked the swimming pool and saw the toddler at the bottom of the pool

The adult immediately removed the child from the pool and called 911.

Deputies and fire rescue arrived and performed CPR on the toddler, who was eventually airlifted to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg.

The case is under investigation.
