A new director of safety will be on the job soon in Hernando County.
Scott Hechler currently serves as deputy fire chief in Spotsylvania County, Virginia.
According to our partners at the Tampa Bay Times, Heckler starts in Hernando County on June 16. His salary will be $100,000.
County officials call him a good choice with a great deal of knowledge and experience.
