Showers and storms filled in during the afternoon and evening Wednesday.

"Winds gusted to 44 mph across Pinellas. Rainfall totals averaged around a half inch in most areas except for Polk which was drier," said Bay News 9 Meteorologist Diane Kacmarik. 

Down power lines were reported Wednesday afternoon near Laura Street and MLK Avenue in Clearwater, possibly the result of high winds.

Deputies in Seminole are conducting a death investigation after a man was found dead at a construction site. According to preliminary information, he may have been struck by lightning.

Showers and storms in the Gulf will roll onshore ahead of a cold front on Thursday. Rain chances will be at 70 percent. Drier air will move in late in the day.
