Parents of missing Valrico teen: 'We're not angry, we're terrified'

The Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement along with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office are looking for an endangered and missing Valrico teen.

A missing child alert was issued Saturday for 16-year-old Ashley Aubin Lyon. Deputies said Lyon may be in the company of Florida registered sexual offender, 41-year-old Steven Patrick Myers.

Lyon was last seen around 4 p.m. on Wednesday at her home on the 4000 block of Water Lark Way in Valrico.

Ashley's parents said they recently found out she had been spending time with Myers, who lives in Plant City, but has relatives in their neighborhood.

The Lyons grounded Ashley but she disappeared while her mother Michelle had jury duty and father Roger was at work.

“I returned home from work at approximately 4:30 that afternoon. I heard music on in her room. My assumption was that she was in the room. When my son and I finished barbequing dinner, I said go get your sister, it’s time to eat and at that point he said she’s not in her room,” said Roger Lyon.

The family said she hasn’t been heard from since and her phone is off.

“Quite honestly, we’re not angry at this point," he said. "We’re terrified. We just want our baby daughter to come home."

Officials said Lyon has been diagnosed as bi-polar and did not take her medications with her.

While investigators search for the missing teen, local businesses are getting involved. Fliers are going out on pizza boxes in Brandon.

“Sadly, this happened so we have the opportunity to be a part of it, and we couldn’t say no. It’s terrible but we’ll help out the best way we can,” said Shane Obedzinkski, NY Times Square Pizza.

The Lyons are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to their daughter's safe return.

Ashley was last seen wearing black tank top, black gym shorts, black "Vans" shoes and may be in a 1989 Ford Ranger pick-up truck with flames painted on the front and sides.

The pick-up should have a Florida Tag CSJ-M45. Lyon may be in the southeastern area of Hillsborough County.
