The next presidential race is still two years away in 2016. There’s already a lot of buzz about potential candidates for the White House, including former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and current U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio.

A chain email is suggesting another familiar face: President Barack Obama. The email claims:

Obama Announces Plans For A Third Term Presidential Run.

PolitiFact said there's absolutely no truth to the claim and rated it PANTS ON FIRE. Holan says it was a joke that got out of hand.

“When we dug into it, we found this was originally a satirical article,” PolitiFact editor Angie Holand said. “It was a joke; it was meant to make people laugh. Someone took it, cut and pasted it into an email and is now passing it off as real.”

The emailed article starts with a Washington dateline and claims Obama even held a news conference to announce the presidential run. It goes on on to quote Sen. Rand Paul telling CNN he opposed the president’s decision.

A closer look at the article shows it comes from a satire site called the National Report. The site’s disclaimer says, in part, “the views expressed by writers on this site are theirs alone and are not reflective of the fine journalistic and editorial integrity of National Report.”

There’s another thing standing in the way of a third presidential run for Obama: the U.S. Constitution. The constitution prohibits anyone from serving more than two terms. Because of these facts, PolitiFact rated the claim PANTS ON FIRE.
