A St. Petersburg man has been arrested after deputies said he stabbed another man with a screwdriver during a fight along St. Pete Beach and fled.

Deputies responded to an armed subject call at MacNasty's Sports Bar & Grill early Sunday morning.

Upon their arrival they learned the suspect, later identified as 29-year-old Christopher Forrester, fled the area after a physical altercation with the victim, 36-year-old Jason Sefick.

Sefick told deputies he and Forrester were in a fight when he realized he was bleeding from his head. He then noticed Forrester had a screwdriver in his hand. Sefick was able to break away, deputies said, and return to the bar and call for assistance.

Deputies said Forrester fled the scene leaving behind his sandals and sunglasses. Deputies also located the screwdriver believed to be used in the altercation.

Deputies requested a K9 unit and set up a perimeter. The K9 tracked down Forrester hiding in some bushes.

He was taken into custody and treated at the scene for punctures to his left thigh and left calf as a result of the K9 apprehension.

Forester was transported to the Pinellas County Jail. He’s charged with aggravated battery.

Sefick was treated by paramedics at the scene for his injuries.
