Amazon is continuing to accept applications online for hourly positions at its new distribution center in Lakeland

Job listings for the Lakeland warehouse's "fulfillment associate" and "lead fulfillment associate" positions were posted Tuesday on the company's fulfillment careers website.

The fulfillment associate position pays $11 and requires a candidate to "receive products using radio frequency scanners, relocate products using forklifts, pallet jacks and walkie-riders. They also may also be required to pick customer orders on all levels of a multi-level mezzanine, pack and ship customer orders, receive product and troubleshoot problems to resolution," the posting reads.

The site lists two lead fulfillment associate positions: training and team leader, and data, flow and inventory leader. Those jobs pay $14.50 per hour.

Responsibilities for the training and team leader include coaching and leading shift meetings with up to 20 associates, while the data, flow and inventory leader's duties include researching and interpreting data trends, as well as monitoring inventory flow and scheduling.

Nina Lindsey, spokeswoman for Amazon, told The Ledger of Lakeland the online retailer's fulfillment jobs pay about 30 percent more than traditional retail positions and employees will receive full benefits, including health insurance, bonuses and a stock program.

Amazon has not said when its 1 million-square-foot facility in Lakeland, under construction on County Line Road, will open. Work is also progressing on another fulfillment center in Ruskin, which is also accepting applications.
