The Chalet Suzanne, a Polk County landmark for 83 years, is closing its doors next month.

The quirky restaurant and inn has hosted the rich and famous to the average person looking to get a good meal.

“We have a whole rack of famous people. Robert Redford, Dolly Parton, Bert Reynolds, Kings from different parts of the world,” said Chalet co-owner, Dee Hinshaw.

Hinshaw said the family business and local hotspot just became too much over the years.

“The economy was really tough on us, just like many other people and we just kept thinking we can do it,” Hinshaw said.

But after years of trying, the historic Chalet will be no more. Before that happens Hinshaw said her family wants to give the public one last chance to experience it.

The Chalet is offering a “Fond Farewell” dinner and overnight package that includes a 10% discount on entrees.

There will be a silent auction for many of the items located around the property. Tables and chairs, many containing priceless tiles and art from around the world, antique furniture and keepsakes, lamps and linens will be up for bidding.

The Chalet will officially close its doors on August 4th.
