A contractor died Monday when officials said he slipped and fell while working at a TECO power plant in Tampa.

According to early reports, Bryan Hagan, 31, was dismantling an old unit at the Bayside TECO power plant, located near U.S. 41 and Port Sutton Road, when he slipped and fell through the grate on the catwalk.

Officials said Hagan fell about 50 feet to the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

Officials said the Mulberry man was working for Southeastern Construction and Maintenance Company at the time of the accident.

No further information has been released.
