The Crystal River City Council has approved plans to redesign Hunter Springs Park.

Members made the decision at Tuesday night's meeting.

Bay News 9's coverage partners, The Citrus County Chronicle, say the Council also wants better management of the bay-front area, to encourage

more paddlers, sunbathers, swimmers and other guests to visit and feel safe.

Changes include a swim beach area, volleyball court, 59 parking spaces, new restrooms, better shorelines and a mini-boardwalk.

Some discussion centered on whether to keep the kayak launch there, or move it to King's Bay Park.

A new parking fee and onsite security may also be added.

Those items are slated for discussion at the next regularly scheduled meeting.
