Citrus County residents who live on private roads can now petition the county to ask for maintenance and improvements.
To apply for the improvements, everyone who has ownership of the road or benefits from it must sign a petition and show proof that they own it.
Owners must then submit a map showing what part of the road needs to be improved and specifically outline the improvements.
Also, owners must include a non-refundable $250 deposit.
If the project is approved, it will be funded through a special assessment levied against the benefiting property owners.
