The Tampa teen beaten by Israeli Police in Jerusalem sat down with Bay News 9 on Wednesday to relive his attack.

Earlier this month 15-year-old Tariq Khdeir was beaten during a protest of his cousin’s killing.

Sitting on the couch next to his mother in Tampa, Khdeir took Bay News 9 through the whole incident.

“They grabbed me, threw me on the floor and zip-tied my hands together," said Khdeir. "They kept beating me.  I thought I was not going to make it out, I didn’t think I was going to make it out.”

Khdeir’s beating was captured on video in his family’s village in Jerusalem.

Khdeir said he was simply a bystander as others protested the killing of his 16-year-old cousin Mohammad Abu Khedair.

Israeli Police claim Tariq attacked them and resisted arrest.

“They tried to use things that I couldn’t even believe against me,” said Khdeir.

Khdeir’s mother Suha still hasn’t seen the entire video.

“There’s no justification to beating a 15-year-old boy,” said Suha Khdeir.

Bloodied and bruised, Khdeir said he was blindfolded and hauled off to jail.

“I was in this place," said Khdeir. "I didn’t even know where I was, I didn’t know where to go.”

Khdeir spent nine days on house arrest before returning to home to dozens of family and friends in Tampa last week.

“I forgot that I had freedom over here,” said Suha Khdeir.

Tariq and his mother spent the last few days on a media circuit spreading their story because they said the world needs to know what Palestinians face every day in Israel.

“Thank God they found out he was a U.S. citizen or else they wouldn’t have ever let him out,” said Suha Khdeir.

The fighting in Isreal continues, and there are opinions on both sides, but certainly the Khdeirs are glad to be home safe and sound.

Suha said it doesn’t look like Tariq has any serious injuries from the beating.

She would like to see the men responsible spend time in jail.

Tariq and Suha both said they would like to go back to Israel someday to visit family.

Tariq never officially faced any charges in Israel.
