Several local businesses are pulling together to help raise money for former employees of a Tarpon Springs restaurant that went up in flames.

Lagerheadz is raising money for 30 employees who lost their jobs when neighboring restaurant 701 Tap House Bar & Grill was destroyed in a fire nearly three weeks ago.

“We’re all in the same industry doing the same thing all the time, and it’s the hardest thing in the world when somebody suffers that because you feel it up on yourself,” said Lagerheadz employee Shauna Thomas.

The tap house went up in flames nearly three weeks ago during the dinner rush.

Now as some of those employees struggle to pay their bills, those who still have a job are coming to the rescue during the toughest season to find work in the industry.

"Worst time of year in the hospitality business and there’s nothing out there," said Thomas.

“It was devastating losing your job and everything but I'm just keeping a good head you know, staying positive,” said Tap House employee Khandi Clark.

Side by side, bartenders, waitresses and cooks from both businesses wash cars, wash dogs and raffle off donated auction items.

“We could not be more humbled by the fact that they've put this event together for us today,” said owner of the Tap House.

“It’s been a little hard everyone is struggling but we’re all going to pull through like a family, like tap house is, and we’re all going to be ok,” said Tap House employee Joseph Catalano.
