The rain chances will stay low today while summer continues its march toward the end of July.

Of course, it will be hot and humid, with temperatures soaring into the low 90s. But the rain chance is only 20 percent.

"We'll have a few isolated showers and thunderstorms that will generally make their way inland toward the other side of the state by later on," Bay News 9 meteorologist Josh Linker said. "Tomorrow, the rain chance goes down even a little more, with just a couple of showers moving through."

A front will arrive Tuesday morning, though and the rain chances will surge to 50 percent.

"I think Tuesday morning, we'll have a much better shot at seeing some of those showers and thunderstorms around, and that could last for a good chunk of the day," Linker said.

Any showers that do develop today or tomorrow "could be heavy," Linker cautioned.

The peak of the hurricane season begins soon, and the National Hurricane Center is watching a tropical wave with "limited and disorganized" shower activity about 420 miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands.
