One of the officers who lost his job following a sex scandal at the Lakeland Police Department may be allowed back on the force.

According to an arbitrator, former Sgt. David Woolverton should be demoted and get a year's worth of back pay.

Woolverton was one of the officers accused of having sex with a civilian employee.

Officials say he's also been disciplined in the past for sexual misconduct and the state attorney sent the former sergeant a letter saying he could no longer use him as a witness.

Despite all of that, Woolverton could be back on the force within a few days. The city's still reviewing the order.
