A dog had to be rescued after becoming trapped underneath a Clearwater home without food or water for two days, according to the Humane Society of Pinellas County.

"She went way up to where the porch was and ended up getting stuck," said Delilah Gagliardi, 22, the dog's owner.

Gagliardi said she thought her female shepherd mix, Allie, had run away when she didn't come home Saturday.

"I thought she went missing at first," Gagliardi said. "Usually, when I call her, she comes right in."

It wasn't until Monday, while Gagliardi was watching TV in her living room, that she heard whimpering coming from beneath her floorboards and realized Allie was trapped.

"I thought she came home. So, I started checking the porch," Gagliardi said. "I ended up listening again, and she was coming from the floor, and I was like, 'Oh my goodness.' And she was crying."

Gagliardi called the Humane Society of Pinellas County for help, and two animal caretakers were dispatched. Maddy Ferguson and Shelby Ross rushed to the Clearwater home with shovels. The animal caretakers, along with Gagliardi, dismantled the front porch and began digging Allie out. A video, posted to YouTube, captured the moment Allie was pulled to safety.

"I'm so happy and grateful," Gagliardi said. "I was so scared for her. I'm glad she's okay."

Gagliardi said Allie appears to be fine. Gagliardi blocked the hole the dog used to get beneath the home. The dog owner said she's also very thankful to the Humane Society of Pinellas County.

"Thank you so much," she said.
