Rain chances will be the highest they'll be all week today.

Showers and storms started early in the day and will be scattered across the region this morning and this afternoon, according to Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez.

"A few showers and some thunderstorms moved into the area this morning," Marquez said. "Rain chances are 50 percent today. Some of the thunderstorms will produce heavy rain."

Conditions will be hot and humid Tuesday with high temperatures approaching 90 degrees. It’s also a breezy day with west winds gusting to more than 20 mph.

But the wet weather will lessen for the rest of the work week starting Wednesday as a cold front moves south down the Florida peninsula.
