The Florida Department of Health in Polk County wants to remind parents to make sure their children's immunizations are up to date.

Parents with a student starting kindergarten or seventh grade, or one that is new to Polk County schools, will need to make sure to get those immunizations.  The school district requires all students to have the most recent and up-to-date vaccinations.

The health department is offering immunizations and other services starting on Monday. They will be available at the following dates and times:

  • Monday, August 4 to Wednesday, August 20, 2014
    Immunizations offered from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Auburndale, Haines City, Lake Wales, and Lakeland clinics
    No appointment needed
  • Saturday, August 9, 2014 - "Back-to-School Event" at Lakeland Clinic
    Immunizations and school physicals will be given from 7:30 a.m. until noon
    No appointment needed
    Physicals will include vision, hearing, blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI)
    Immunizations are available for all school-age children
    Birth certificates are available and can be purchased for $15
  • Thursday, August 14, 2014- "School Orientation Immunizations"
    Mandatory, as well as optional vaccines will be made available 9:00 a.m. until noon at the following school orientations:
    Lakeland Highlands Middle School
    Denison Middle School (Winter Haven)

A parent or guardian must come with children who need to be vaccinated.  Please bring current shot records with you, if you have them.
