A routine traffic stop in Gulfport on Monday morning led to the arrest of a St. Petersburg woman on several drug charges, police said.

According to Gulfport police, Jessica Leigh Odell, 30, was stopped in the 6000 block of Gulfport Boulevard for going 18 mph over the speed limit. She was found to be transporting 20 canisters of nitrous oxide, one of which was in an otherwise empty whip-cream dispenser, a conduit often used for inhalation of the substance.

Officers also found marijuana and and un-prescribed Xanax in Odell's possession, police said.

Odell was booked in the Pinellas County jail on charges of felony possession of a harmful chemical substance and controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and violation of probation.

Police also started the process of seizing her 2002 Dodge Ram truck under the Florida Contraband Forfeiture law.
